Finished Projects

Ladies and Gentlemen!  I had a banner weekend in terms of finishing projects that I have been working on for approximately 6 months or longer!  This is very exciting for me, because I LOVE to start projects and not so much with the finishing part.  Especially if finishing them involves a lot of detailed (ps, while writing this, Blake just SAT right on top of Chopper, and Chopper just made the cutest squeak toy noise in the world.  I have never heard anything like it.  However, I am pretty sure it hurt, and that is probably the reason why Chopper just loves to pee on Blake), time consuming work.  BUT THIS WEEKEND!  Instead of being a normal 25 year old, I spent a lot of time finishing blankets/sewing pillows/hanging picture frames.  And now I am going to show them to you…

First up, is my finished Babette Blanket!!  Here is a picture so you can admire it:

Hi! I took Kristi a really long time, so you should tell her how awesome I am! Ok, thanks! - Blanket

This blanket is the exact same one that I made for David for his wedding.  However, mine was made with Cascade Wool, while David’s Most Sensitive Skin on The Face of The Planet’s was made with organic cotton from Blue Sky.  Here is a picture of his.  It also took me one million years to finish.

Chopper loved this blanket and refused to be parted from it.

And again!

See! I told you! Chopper refused to leave it!

I also finally made Chopper the bed I have been promising him.  While Porky usually sits on my lap or glued to my side if I have have some sort of project in my lap, poor Chopper is often regulated to the floor.  Now, if you know chihuahuas, you know that there is no way my little reptile of a dog could stand the cold floor for more than 0.5 seconds, so he is always making beds out of the softest things on the floor/couches.  I bought some fabric a long time ago with the plan to make him his very own bed (instead of the pink princess that was bought for Porky when I first got her that he currently uses).  Anyways, here it is!!

I love my new bed! It is so smooshy and comfortable! -Chopper

I loved the pillow so much that I didn't even move when Blake picked up the pillow! I made a Chopper/Pillow sandwich! - Chopper

Saturday morning, I decided to let Blake sleep in (“let,” ha.  Blake is impossible to wake up before 1o on the weekend), and I made some bread out of all the fruit that was about to start molding in the fridge.  Luckily for Blake, he’s pretty nice to me, so he was woken up to banana/blueberry bread (instead of how I was woken up – which was, as usual, hair digging)

Blake has the best wife in the world (it's me!)

Finally, I spent Sunday making THE HUGEST PILLOWS IN THE WORLD.  Now, they weren’t supposed to be quite so huge.  Blake and I received a day bed from his parents to put in our barren guest bed room, and it always bothered me that there were no back pillows for it.  So, about 5 months ago, I spent $100 at Joanne’s (my favorite store), buying foam and stuffing and fabric.  I then put it in my closet and forgot about it.  Today, I decided that I was on a role with successful projects, and decided that I would finally attempt these pillows.  This is what I ended up with:

I am posting this picture even though I look terrible so you can get a reference for how huge the pillows are in comparison to me. GIANT!!!

I guess I forgot to measure.  Ha.  I thought I had the foam cut to the right size, but apparently I did not.  Anyways, after some cursing and fighting with the sewing machine, Blake and I ended up with more normal size pillows (hint, half of them are hiding behind the day bed), and my new blanket has a new home hiding the ugly color (it looked right in the store!).  Anyways, here is the picture:

There we go! Much better!

And from the other side:

No freakily large pillows!

And that, folks, was my weekend.

Wow…totally impressed!! Great job, Kristi! As I told you at Andrea’s shower…those type of items you have made make the best keepsakes and gifts. Make sure you “sign/initial” your work!

Love the blanket, Love the pillows and I Love the painted picture frames….but Chopper still takes the cake as being the cutest thing in your place! Blake is a lucky guy to have such a talented and crafty wife. I love the little picture you drew for him on his breakfast tray!

Not only did you finish the blanket, but it is a talking blanket. Only my daughter would know how to make a talking blanket. It looks really good. Now maybe there is one other unfinished project you might want to start working on? I am moving back soon, and I have NO SWEATERS to wear. (hint, hint)

You had a really productive weekend. All your completed projects look awesome. I take it from all the photos of Chopper that he is the favorite child…You even have a bunch of empty picture frames on the wall but does Porky’s image make it into those, um nope. From this I again conclude that Chopper is the undisputed favorite.
